Better Rent Supplement Scheme

We want this to happen quickly as it will have benefits for tenants, landlords and the wider economy. It is proposed that the new payment system will be based on income and not on employment, which means that a tenant could take up low-paid work without losing all of their rent supplement payment.

Threshold also supports the proposal that rent would be paid directly to landlords. This will give tenants more security and choice, while also providing greater peace of mind for landlords.
