How to access our services
Threshold has three offices in Cork, Dublin and Galway, where trained staff provide free and independent advice and advocacy to tenants experiencing housing problems particularly those at risk of homelessness.
We do not provide legal advice, our advice is our interpretation of the relevant legislation, policies and practices. If you require legal advice, we advise that you contact a solicitor.
Threshold does not provide an advice service for landlords and would recommend contacting one of the many landlord organisations or seek legal advice.
As a charity, our services are structured to make the most out of limited resources. Our focus is upon clients, with serious housing problems and at risk of homelessness, those who need our help the most, and those who do not have the capacity to take action on their own behalf or the resources for accessing professional assistance.
Our advice services can normally be contacted during normal office hours, Monday to Friday, 9.00am -5.00pm* in the following ways:
*Our advice centres are closed on public holidays and an emergency service for threatened illegal evictions operates over the Christmas holidays.
Our website provides a wide range of information 24/7 covering the main rights and obligations in private rented accommodation and advice on how to resolve problems. You will also be able to access links and downloads to additional information.
Our housing advisors are available to answer housing queries via our webchat service which is available Monday-Friday from 10am until
If you are a tenant and cannot find what you are looking for on our website or need further assistance, you can email your query to your nearest Threshold advice centre by clicking here. In normal circumstances we will respond to your email within two working days, but this may be longer during busier periods.
