Stopping Homelessness with Rethink Ireland
Threshold is proud to be one of the Awardees of the Innovate Together Fund from Rethink Ireland.
Innovation is a key part of helping Threshold to respond to the challenges of the Covid-19 crisis with so many losing their jobs and now fearful of losing their homes.
That’s why Threshold is working with the Innovate Together Fund as part our mission to respond to the need for new solutions to stop homelessness in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis.
With the support of the Innovate Together Fund, Threshold will create an innovative online solution to help to grow the scale of our home-saving services and reach even more renters nationwide on the brink of becoming homeless.
Renters in crisis can no longer visit Threshold’s advice centres to avail of our specialised face-to-face support because of the restrictions imposed by Covid-19.
But now, through a remote Freephone Helpline service and online video call facility, Threshold will provide renters with the one-to-one personalised support via an app as they work from home as our team of housing advisors work from home, 9am to 9pm, fully equipped with the tools needed to continue to stop homelessness.
“The pandemic instruction to ‘Stay Home and Stay Safe’ almost wasn’t possible for so many families around Ireland on the brink of homelessness.
When people first started losing their jobs, the phone line never stopped ringing. People just didn’t know what they were going to do and were panicked about what the future would hold.
But thanks to the generosity of Rethink Ireland’s Innovate Together Fund, Threshold can continue to provide the innovative home-saving tools needed to stop homelessness.
And the importance of their support has never been clearer than during this crisis, when the safety and security of having a place to call home has never been so incredibly vital.”
